Aubrey Yeboah

Aubrey Yeboah was born in Washington, D.C. to Ghanaian parents. He developed an interest in technology and entrepreneurship while majoring in Marketing at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing and Business Administration and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

After graduating from WSSU, Aubrey moved back to DC and worked for different industries and organizations within his community - such as the Department of Energy, DC Public Schools, Black Entertainment Television (BET), and Bread for the City.

In 2017, Aubrey received a full scholarship from Fort Hays State University to obtain his MBA while simultaneously teaching Principles of Management and Business Policy to undergraduate Chinese students at Sias International University in the Henan region of China for two years.

During his time in China, in which he received his MBA in International Business, he co-founded the mobile app company BatteryXchange. He met with manufacturers and app developers to help him build his kiosk machines, mobile app and batteries. He utilized a crowdfund platform to raise over $176,000 from friends, family, and other angel investors. This process taught him how to properly evaluate his company based upon market size and competitors in the same industry.

With underrepresented students at his alma mater Winston-Salem State University in mind, his vision to introduce technology to the underserved community in North Carolina and surrounding areas came to fruition with his first major partnership with the University. His mobile app has helped students see and understand how an idea can come to life by networking and partnering with like-minded and community-oriented individuals. His goal to inspire students to learn more about computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) was realized when he was able to hire interns from the University to help the company progress. The interns gained exposure to startup companies, how to raise capital, how to create marketing campaigns, how to find business partners, and how to develop relationships with different organizations.

In 2019, he was accepted into 1863 Ventures and 1776 Accelerator Program. These programs helped founders receive startup training, resources and mentorship to help them develop as business owners. The courses focused heavily on business management, pitch deck development, marketing and finance - which all gave him the necessary tools to help underrepresented founders like himself grow and mature as first time tech/business owners.

After the success of BatteryXchange, Aubrey partnered with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and developed the Fatherhood Initiative, a program focused on supporting, uplifting and providing resources to fathers in the D.C. Metropolitan area. The program focuses on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, mental health awareness, personal health and wellness, community development and family support. Aubrey is also working with High Street Equity Partners – an early stage startup venture fund, as an Investment Lead and Marketing Advisor, where he focuses on media publication ideation, investor relations, capital raising, and portfolio performance.

Aubrey enjoys working with and regularly hires underrepresented undergraduate students interested in business development and marketing strategies to join/assist him at HSEP.
