Cassandra Sari Damayanti is the co-founder of Rawhaus, a company that develops sustainable tiny homes in response to the housing shortage in Indonesia.

According to Cassandra, large-scale housing programs in Indonesia are creating a scarcity of land in urban areas, while also significantly impacting the environment through the overuse of natural resources and the effects of construction.

“Having seen this phenomenon,” Cassandra shared, “I think it’s important to build sustainable housing that suits the current conditions.”

On top of the housing shortage, Indonesia faces many earthquakes, which means that houses should have safety measures in place to make them earthquake resistant or easy to rebuild after natural disasters.

Rawhaus envisions a movement toward smaller homes produced with their waste-to-material method, lessening the impact of construction and creating a home that allows the consumer to “live a more purposeful and productive life.”

Cassandra shared that for Rawhaus, “the biggest challenge is building market awareness around the product and the importance of sustainability.”

In the Because Accelerator, Cassandra hopes to develop a strategic business plan for customers and investors that will raise awareness about the importance of her product.
